What you leave with

A birth plan you wrote together, and a partner who knows what to do with their hands

A comprehensive series for expectant parents and birth partners: comfort measures, counter-pressure, birth physiology, advocacy in medical settings and the postpartum transition.

Six to eight couples, and the partner is a full participant rather than an observer. One whole stage is hands-on, because counter-pressure is not something you can read about.

What makes this one worth it

  • The Physiology of Labor & The Hormonal Cascade
  • Partner Comfort Measures & Hands-On Counter-Pressure
  • Medical Interventions, Informed Consent & Advocacy
  • Pushing Mechanics, Golden Hour & The Fourth Trimester

What is included

  • All 4 sessions of the 4-week cohort — 10 hours of instruction
  • A place held for you for the whole run, in a cohort of 6–8
  • Every piece of equipment listed below, provided on the day
  • Your instructor, and their attention in a group this size

What to bring

  • Water, and something to eat if you want it
  • Nothing else — the kit is provided

What you cover, in rotation

The group works through these in order and then begins again on fresh ground. Join at whatever stage it is on — nothing here assumes you were there for the last one, and nothing runs out — or drop in for a single session if that is all you can manage.

  1. Stage 1The Physiology of Labor & The Hormonal Cascade
    • The four stages of labour: latent, active, transition and pushing.
    • Oxytocin against adrenaline, and creating an optimal birth environment.
    • When to go in: the 4-1-1 rule and labour triage.
  2. Stage 2Partner Comfort Measures & Hands-On Counter-Pressure
    • Double hip squeezes, sacral counter-pressure and knee presses.
    • Rebozo scarves for pelvic sifting and fetal positioning.
    • Hydrotherapy, hot and cold packs, and massage during surges.
  3. Stage 3Medical Interventions, Informed Consent & Advocacy
    • Induction, epidural, fetal monitoring and caesarean, explained.
    • The BRAIN framework: benefits, risks, alternatives, intuition, next step.
    • Communication scripts for hospital staff and OB or midwife teams.
  4. Stage 4Pushing Mechanics, Golden Hour & The Fourth Trimester
    • Physiological pushing positions: upright, side-lying and squatting.
    • Delayed cord clamping, skin-to-skin and the breast crawl.
    • A realistic postpartum meal train, sleep support and recovery plan.

4 sessions in the cycle, then it begins again on new ground.
