A guide briefing a small group at a harbour dock in the morning.

For anyone with something worth sharing

You teach it. We help with everything else.

A space if you need one, an offer people stay for, the system to sell it, and a platform people find. You do not need a business, a website or a single booking behind you. No listing fee. No monthly cost. No exclusivity.

The honest pitch

Being good at this is not the same as being found.

Almost everybody we meet is one person with a skill, not a company with a marketing department. The thing standing between them and a full Saturday is never the skill.

Nowhere to sell it

You can teach it, cook it, guide it or make it. What you do not have is a page, a price, a date somebody can pick and a button that takes their money.

Only your own circle knows

Word of mouth reaches the people who already know you. It never reaches the person who moved here last month and would have booked this on Saturday.

The part that is not the skill

Photographs, wording, insurance, waivers, taking payment, answering the same five questions. None of it is why you learned to do this, and all of it happens after work.

We do all three. You turn up and do the thing you are good at — and if it goes well, you do it again next week.

How we set you up

Four things every class or workshop needs

Knowing how is the part only you have. We help with whichever of the other four you are missing.

1. A space

Use your own place, a beach or a park, or rent one. Farms and studios around the county list rooms, barns, kitchens and gardens in the space directory, and we introduce you to the host. Have a space? List it.

2. An offer people stay for

We help you turn what you teach into a class people join by the month, so the same faces come back and build on last week. Free.

3. The system

Your listing, the booking calendar, card checkout, signed waivers and one message thread per booking, all run on Livabit. Free to use: we earn a commission on what sells.

4. People

We market the whole platform: the San Diego Farm Crawl, our highway sign, ads and our own channels. We will not promise to fill your class on our own, so bring your people too, and we give you the tools to do it.

The arrangement

Simple, and deliberately so.

We meet, and we do the thing with you

We come along and take it as a guest would, before a word of it is listed. If it is not something we would send a friend on we say so, and we tell you why rather than going quiet. Plenty of people pass this having never once run it for a stranger.

We work out what it needs to be legal

Some of these need a licence, a permit or public liability cover; plenty need none of it. Which one you are depends on what you do and where you do it, and we tell you before anything goes live rather than after. Whatever yours needs, it is in place first — that part protects both of us and is not negotiable.

We build the listing at our cost

Photography, video, written copy, the price and how it is presented. You review and approve every word before it goes live, and the photographs we take of you doing it are yours to use anywhere.

We market it and send you bookings

Guests find it, book it and pay for it here, so what reaches you is a confirmed date with the party and the price already agreed — no thread to answer, no invoice to chase. Connect a Stripe account and the money reaches you as each sale settles; until you do, we collect it and settle with you directly. Same price to the guest either way.

We are paid only when it actually happens

A share of what a guest paid, agreed in writing before anything goes live, and owed only on bookings that came through us and actually ran. Where Stripe splits the payment it comes out as each sale settles; where we collected it, it is netted off what we owe you; otherwise we invoice it monthly. Cancelled, rained off or never booked, and there is nothing to pay.

What you get, plainly

The terms, without the sales voice

What we do

  • Marketing, paid and organic, at our own expense
  • Professional photography and video of you doing the thing
  • Listing copy written and kept current
  • The first round of questions answered before they reach you
  • Booking requests qualified — group size, dates, fitness, expectations
  • Post-trip follow-up and feedback collection

What stays yours

  • Your price — you set it, and we never discount it without your say
  • Your calendar, capacity and cancellation policy
  • The people who come — they are yours, including when they come back
  • Your right to list anywhere else you like — no exclusivity
  • The thing itself — we take no stake in it and no say in how you run it
  • Your right to leave with 30 days' notice, no exit fee

On commission

We take a share of what a guest pays on the bookings we bring you, and nothing else — no fee to list, no fee to stay listed, no fee for the photography. The rate depends on what you run, what it costs you to run and how much of the marketing spend we carry, so we agree it with you in writing before anything goes live, and it never changes without your signature. Anybody who books you directly is yours, at no charge of any kind.

What we ask of you

Three things, and we hold ourselves to the same standard.

  • Whatever your activity actually needs to be legal and insured — which we work out together before you go live — kept current, and tell us the moment any of it lapses
  • Answer a booking within one business day, even if the answer is no
  • A free move to another date, or the money back in full, whenever you are the one who cancels — weather included

In four numbers

No fees, no lock-in, no exclusivity.

Written for your trade

If one of these is you, start here

This page has to speak to growers, artists, makers, cooks, practitioners and teachers all in one voice. These do not: same terms, same rate, same four things, said in the words the people who actually do it would use.

For painters, illustrators, musicians, dancers and anyone who teaches an art

Teach your art every week.

We help with the space, the monthly offer, the booking system and the people, and are paid only when somebody joins.

For yoga, movement, breathwork, nutrition and wellness practitioners

Run a weekly class people stay in.

We help with the space, the monthly offer, the booking system and the people, and are paid only when somebody joins.

For anybody who teaches something: nature, a craft, a subject, a skill

Teach what you know, every week.

Livabit is the operating system for educators: the space, the monthly offer, booking and payments, and the people.

For anyone who grows something — an acre or a thousand

Bring people to your farm.

We bring the photography, the listing, the booking system and the visitors — and are paid only when someone actually walks onto your land.

Apply

Tell us what you do

Five minutes, in five short steps, and there is no question in it you need a business to answer. Your answers save on the device as you go, so you can stop halfway and come back — most of these get filled in around a job. A real person reads every one, and we reply either way, including when the answer is no.

Nothing is committed by applying, and nothing is expected of you before it — it is the start of a conversation, not a contract.

Partner questions

Fair things to ask

Do I have to give you exclusivity?

No, and we would be suspicious of anyone who asked you for it. Run it yourself, run it elsewhere, run it for friends at cost. We only earn on bookings we actually send you, so it is on us to be worth having.

Who holds the money?

One of three ways, and you can move between them. Connect a Stripe account and guests check out here, Stripe pays you your price as each sale settles, and our commission comes out on the same transaction — no invoice to pay and no balance of yours sitting on our side. Before you connect one, your listings still sell: the payment lands with us in full and we owe you the balance after commission, settled with you directly rather than by Stripe, which we would rather not do for long — it is the reason connecting takes ten minutes and is the first thing we ask for. And for anything not sold here at all, the guest pays you on your own terms and we invoice commission monthly on trips we introduced that ran. On the card routes we are the merchant of record, which means card disputes come to us rather than to you.

What if a guest is a problem, or unsafe?

Your call always wins, and you never have to argue it with us first. If you judge somebody unfit to take part — intoxicated, unwell, unwilling to follow a safety brief — you refuse, they are refunded, and we back you in public and in private. Nothing is owed to us on something you correctly refused to run.

Are you going to compete with me later?

No. We own no equipment, we employ nobody who runs a class or a trip, and we have no intention of starting. The whole thing only works if the people on it do better because of us.

I do not have a business. Can I still apply?

Yes, and this is who the page is written for. No company, no website, no premises and no previous customer is required to apply — what we are looking at is whether the thing itself is good and whether it can be run safely. If it gets to the point of going live and your activity needs registering somewhere, we tell you that at the paperwork step rather than leaving you to find out.

I have never charged anybody for this before.

Most of the people we meet have not. You are not expected to arrive with a price, a plan or a script — we take it as a guest, we tell you honestly what it is worth, and we write the listing. What you need to bring is the thing you are good at and enough of a spine to be told when a detail is not working yet.

I have a job. How often would I have to run it?

As often as you say and no more. You set which dates exist and you can close any of them; one Saturday a month is a perfectly good answer, and so is every weekday evening in summer and nothing in winter. What we ask is that a date on the site is a date you will actually turn up to.
