What you leave with

Dancing through a live DJ set without being led to the edge of the floor

Timing, partner connection, fundamental turns and floorcraft, structured around community social nights rather than a studio mirror.

Half of every session is open social practice, because the gap between a class and a dance floor is the thing that stops most people ever using what they learned.

What you cover, in rotation

The group works through these in order and then begins again on fresh ground. Join at whatever stage it is on — nothing here assumes you were there for the last one, and nothing runs out — or drop in for a single session if that is all you can manage.

  1. Stage 1Salsa On1 Foundations & Clave Rhythm
    • Finding the '1' in Latin music: the conga tumble and the clave pattern.
    • Basic step — forward and back, side-to-side, and the cumbia step.
    • Lead and follow handhold frame, tension and compression.
  2. Stage 2Right Turns, Cross-Body Leads & Smooth Transitions
    • Inside and outside solo turns, and spotting for balance.
    • The cross-body lead: opening the slot and timing the pass.
    • Merengue two-step rhythm for quick floor confidence.
  3. Stage 3Cumbia Shuffles, Hand Swaps & Open Connection
    • Cumbia step rhythm, hip motion and travelling turns.
    • Hand exchanges behind the back and hammerlock basics.
    • The etiquette of asking somebody to dance, and floor awareness.
  4. Stage 4Combo Routine, Styling & Live DJ Social
    • Linking basic, cross-body lead, right turns and cumbia into one routine.
    • Gentle styling accents for leaders and followers.
    • An open Latin social with a live salsa and cumbia DJ.

4 sessions in the cycle, then it begins again on new ground.
