What you leave with

A four-mile sunrise touring loop across the lagoon, finishing with a floating meditation

Peaceful morning estuaries and lagoons at first light, when the water is flat enough to see the bottom. Core stability, paddle biomechanics, pivot turning and wetland awareness.

The last session includes a guided silent float at dawn, which sounds soft and is the reason a good proportion of the cohort signs up again.

What you cover, in rotation

The group works through these in order and then begins again on fresh ground. Join at whatever stage it is on — nothing here assumes you were there for the last one, and nothing runs out — or drop in for a single session if that is all you can manage.

  1. Stage 1Board Sizing, Stance & Core Engagement
    • Displacement against planing hulls, volume maths, and fin setups.
    • A centred athletic stance, engaging the abdominal wall and glutes.
    • Paddle blade orientation, reach, catch and clean release.
  2. Stage 2Power Forward Stroke & Turning Mechanics
    • Using full body rotation rather than arm pulling.
    • Cross-bow turns, reverse sweeps, and feathering the blade in wind.
    • Reading morning wind patterns and tidal currents.
  3. Stage 3Step-Back Pivot Turns & Rough Water Stability
    • Shifting weight to the tail for instant 180-degree pivot turns.
    • Bracing strokes for boat wake stability.
    • Floating wildlife observation: rays, egrets and baitfish shoals.
  4. Stage 4Sunrise Lagoon Expedition & Floating Mindfulness
    • A four-mile sunrise touring loop across quiet coastal lagoons.
    • A guided silent floating meditation on calm water at dawn.
    • Beach landing, board washdown, and a warm matcha social.

4 sessions in the cycle, then it begins again on new ground.
