What you leave with

The names of the plants on your own street, and a walking group that keeps going

Local canyon trail networks, native flora identification, and accessible outdoor fitness — a recurring morning trail series rather than a hike.

The grade is gentle and the pace is conversational. What changes is not your fitness but how much of the trail you can name.

What you cover, in rotation

The group works through these in order and then begins again on fresh ground. Join at whatever stage it is on — nothing here assumes you were there for the last one, and nothing runs out — or drop in for a single session if that is all you can manage.

  1. Stage 1Coastal Sage Scrub & Native Chaparral Flora
    • California sagebrush, white sage and lemonade berry.
    • Scent mapping, tactile identification, and ethnobotanical uses.
    • Walking cadence, breath synchronisation, and joint-friendly stride.
  2. Stage 2Riparian Corridors, Willow Woodlands & Birdsong
    • Walking river valley wetland borders and sycamore groves.
    • Riparian bird calls: song sparrows and red-shouldered hawks.
    • Seasonal water flow and wetland soil health.
  3. Stage 3Geological Terraces & Ancient Seabed Fossils
    • Marine terrace formations, shell deposits and fault lines.
    • Local historical ecology and landscape change over 10,000 years.
    • A silent, mindful walking segment.
  4. Stage 4Ridge Views, Watershed Mapping & Community Breakfast
    • Ascending scenic overlook ridges with watershed vistas.
    • How local canyons connect into the Pacific.
    • A post-walk community social and herbal tea gathering.

4 sessions in the cycle, then it begins again on new ground.
