About Desert Dark Sky Co. · Joshua Tree, California

Elias Mora has been observing out of Joshua Tree since 2011 and running nights for other people since 2019. The camp is an overnight because the best part of the sky arrives after most day trips have already driven home.

The live sessions started when nobody could travel and stayed, because the telescope does not mind who is watching and a clear desert night is worth handing to somebody in a city that has never seen the Milky Way.

Known for

  • A fourteen-inch Dobsonian, and a green laser to find things with
  • Moonless dates only — the calendar is built around it
  • Overnight, because the sky improves after midnight
